Such a relief! Let me tell you! It seems like this process took a long time but I'm thrilled with the results. Nope. There are no before pictures. The rooms were in that bad of shape that I didn't even want to record that particular memory. LOL! This is Abby's room. Orignally it was a yucky light dirty blue with holes, glow in the dark paint and written words all over it. I had to use 2 coats of primer plus 2 coats of paint to cover over that. I swear that there were so many holes that the previous owners had used this room for dart practice! Abby picked out her paint colors and did an awesome job of it. Because our house is a bilevel we've got a ledge in each of the kid's rooms, Abby's had been left bare so I didn't paint it. To make her room seem larger (its long and narrow) I left the closet doors off of their closets and painted them a contrasting color. All her furniture is from Ikea :) The flower by her bed is actually a night light, from Ikea as well.
This is the far side of her room (when you walk in the door) Her desk area isn't totally set up yet. We need to pick up a new desk chair for her (there's cute pink one from Ikea) and I'd like to set up her an art/scrapbooking centre. Yet to be done is putting up her name which will go just above her desk. The letters are wooden and painted purple and spell "Abigail". I'm also planning on stamping colored butterflies around her room. My plan is to use pink, white, yellow, green, blue and purple and mix in some glitter to the outlines of the butterflies. Her new blind is coming in this week and will be white.
Ok here is Ethan's new room. Wonder of wonders this used to be my scrapbooking room. Of course it wasn't this cool. Picture that same yucky blue paint on the walls with a million holes everywhere. Then look down and about 18 inches from the floor the walls were cut and new drywall was put in. No primer no patching nothing. So we had to do that. Ron did an awesome job of patching and sanding that weird drywall cut. In his room I had to do the 2 coats primer and 2 coats paint as well. Unfortunately Ethan's ledge had been painted blue as well so I needed to cover that. His 2 colors of paint that he picked were both green and closer in color than I would have liked. I would have picked a greater contrast. But its his room and I let him pick. Thankfully he chose some other colors to go with the green :) We like to call this the Kermit room, lol!
His closet also has no doors (really opens the space up) and honestly they never closed their closets anyways. All Ethan's furniture (except the antique desk) is from Ikea. Can't you tell we love that store? I still need to add his dinosaur models that will go along the ledge. I'm going to be working on some canvases for him that are 12x24 which will go on the wall beside his bed. I'm going to scrapbook them with some very cool dinosaur pictures. In the corner of his room Ron will be hanging some of his Star Wars ships as well. The green bugs on his walls are actually a night light of sorts also from Ikea.
So the kids were moved downstairs this past Friday and have done really well being down there. I expected some midnight wanderings but we haven't had any of that yet. They love their rooms and are really stoked about them. Their old rooms upstairs will be turned into the baby's room (Ethan's old one) and my scrapbooking/computer room (Abby's old room) Right now the baby's room just has my rocking chair, the change table and a dresser in it. Later tonight we are going to set up the crib and get the bedding and everything set up. When that room is finished I'll post pictures too. Unfortunately my scrapbooking room will be the last to set up and probably won't happen till after this little one is born (less than 3 weeks!!) But I'm in serious nesting mode and I might convince Ron to at least set up my new desk so I can slowly start organizing some stuff. I can't wait! I so miss having my own space.
Just a running, healthy eating mom who scrapbooks and tries to do the best that she can.

so tired of being tired
Ok I get the fact that with only 5 weeks to go I'm going to be tired but geez! I wake up in the morning and I'm ready to go back to bed. Plus the fact that I have 2 sleep positions to choose from...it doesn't make for a restful sleep. Its a good thing that stuff is almost in the completed stages around here. The kids' new rooms have both been painted and Ron and I are so thankful my dad is coming this weekend to help install the carpets. After that its just a matter of moving furniture. I feel so bad for Ron as he's doing all of this moving on his own (well all the heavy stuff) but I'm getting anxious to be able to set up the baby's room. I'll be taking pictures this weekend of the carpet installation and then post about the new rooms...be prepared for some serious color. You head down the hallway in the basement and get to see a distinctive glow coming from each bedroom which have been appropriately nicknamed the "frog room" and the "cotton candy room"

Just playing around with my tripod and remote...
Here I am hugely 34 weeks pregnant. Thankfully things are going well...our baby boy is sure kicking up a storm. Abby jokes about the baby using a bomb to get out of my tummy. I think she's been watching too many Loony Tunes shows...course the way this one kicks it sure feels like it some days. 6 more weeks to go!!! 8)

The great hunt...
The kids were so excited to be able to hunt eggs outside. With our freak snow storm we weren't sure if they would but the die hards that they are it was hard to hold them back.
Ethan got the harder ones and Emily had the easier eggs...still one always gets left out. Ron found a hidden egg in the bumper of his truck 3 days later...after he had driven to work and to Athabasca a few times.
This is the picture that I got seconds before she hit her head on the top of the wishing well. Poor girl, it wasn't even for a chocolate egg!
Ethan trudging out to the trampoline to do a last look around.
Abby is not so good at the "hot-cold" game. The egg is actually right next to her and it took her 5 minutes to find it.
